This policy explains how Australian Helper collects, holds, uses and discloses personal information across its website, iOS and Android apps, marketplace, support and administration systems.

Information we collect

How information is collected and used

We collect information directly from you, from the other party to a task, from sign-in, payment, identity, notification and app-store providers, and automatically when you use the service. We use it to operate accounts and marketplace transactions, match tasks, communicate, process payments and payouts, verify users, provide support, prevent fraud, moderate content, resolve disputes, meet legal obligations and improve service reliability.

Location

With permission, the apps may use foreground location to suggest your current suburb, postcode, nearby tasks and approximate distance. Background location is not required. You can enter a different task location manually. Saved profile and task locations are sent to Australian Helper; do not publish a precise residential address in a public task.

Automated and human safety moderation

Text and images submitted in profiles, tasks, offers, counter-offers, private task messages, reviews, support requests, reports, cancellations, refunds and disputes may be processed by automated safety tools, including OpenAI moderation, and may be reviewed by authorised Australian Helper administrators. Do not submit passwords, full card details or identity documents in free-text fields, task photos or messages.

Moderation identifies possible illegal, sexual, violent, hateful, self-harm, drug-related, fraudulent, contact-detail or other unsafe content. It may restrict publication or refer content for human review. Users may appeal an adverse moderation or account decision through support.

Service providers and overseas disclosure

We may disclose information where necessary to providers including Google Cloud, Stripe, Apple, Google, Twilio, Resend, OpenAI, identity and bank-verification providers, professional advisers, insurers, regulators and law enforcement. Providers may process information in Australia, the United States and other countries where their infrastructure or support teams operate. Overseas privacy protections may differ from Australian law.

Sharing between members

Relevant profile, task, offer, review and task-message information is shared with marketplace participants as needed to evaluate and complete a task. Contact details are restricted until the applicable task and payment stage. Public content may be visible without signing in.

Storage, security and retention

We use access controls, encryption in transit, managed secrets, audit logs, rate limits, restricted admin roles and backups. No online service is completely secure. Typical retention periods are: financial and transaction records seven years; disputes and final admin decisions seven years; completed-task messages and attachments up to two years unless required for an active case; support records three years; security and audit records two years; inactive push tokens up to 90 days; operational backups up to 35 days. Data may be retained longer where required for legal claims, fraud prevention, tax, safety or regulatory obligations, then deleted or de-identified where reasonable.

Access, correction and deletion

You can update common account information in the app. To request access, correction or deletion, email support@australianhelper.com or use the account deletion form. We verify identity before releasing or changing information and may retain records that the law, fraud prevention, safety or an unresolved transaction requires.

Privacy complaints

Send a written complaint describing the issue and requested outcome to the contact above. We aim to acknowledge it within seven days and respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied after giving us a reasonable opportunity to respond, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Children

Australian Helper is intended for people aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly permit children to post or accept tasks. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information.

Changes

We publish the current version and effective date on this page. We will provide in-product notice and request renewed acceptance where a material change affects how personal information is handled or member rights.
